Composer Yie Eun Chun (b.1985)'s works have been performed in many venues by such ensembles as Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean National Symphony Orchestra, Omaha Symphony, Indiana University Orchestra, Ensemble 2e2m, Ensemble TIMF (Tongyeong International Music Festival), IU New Music Ensemble, the Tanglewood New Fromm Players, Indiana University Symphonic Choir, Breakout Ensemble, USC Recital Choir, Norfolk Contemporary Ensemble, Eastman Sinfonietta, Eastman Choir and the Musica Nova Ensemble.

She got a commission from Korea National Opera to write the operas "The Red Shoes"(2020) and “Brahms..”(2021) for their 19/20 and 20/21 season. Yie Eun was commissioned by the LA Philharmonic Orchestra to compose a violin concerto and also she wrote a piece for ​Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra for their contemporary music series 'Ars Nova', which was premiered by SPO with conductor Pascal Rophé. She was awarded the Georgina Joshi Composition Award at Indiana University, and was also selected as one of the winners of the Fresh Ink Symposium resulting in a premiere by the Omaha Symphony directed by composer John Corigliano and conductor Thomas Wilkins.

She was a Margaret Lee Crofts Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center in 2013, and her music has garnered awards and honors including the 2016 ISCM World Music Days (2016), an ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award (2013), and the Bernard Rogers Memorial Prize for Composition (2010).

Ms. Chun earned a Doctoral of Music degree in Composition at Indiana University, where she taught undergraduate courses in instrumentation and composition as an Associate Instructor in the composition department. She holds a Master of Music degree from Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from Seoul National University (Summa Cum Laude). She was awarded Warren Benson, Samuel Adler, Paul Sacher, and Ralph Jackno fellowships from Eastman School of Music for her Master's studies and a Sungtae Kim Scholarship from Seoul National University for her Bachelor's studies. She has studied with renowned composers such as David Dzubay, Sven-David Sandström, Claude Baker, Aaron Travers, Sangjick Jun, Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez and David Liptak. 

In 2022, Yie Eun received commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea, and she was selected as the winner of the 1st Young Artist Award in the music section of The National Academy of Arts, Republic of Korea. She was a composer-in-residence of the Korean National Symphony Orchestra during 2022-2023, and currently she is an Assistant Professor at Kookmin University.
